A study of prognostic factors in sudden hearing loss.

Idiopathic sudden hearing loss (ISHL) has an estimated incidence of 10-20/100,000 per year, impairing not only patients’ hearing but also their ability to interact socially and their quality of life. After surgery I had excellent hearing – mostly hearing at 25dB for lower frequencies and only the upper frequencies significantly affected. Fortunately, the vast majority of cases of sudden hearing loss are unilateral, and the prognosis for some recovery of hearing is good.
