I was more wondering if anyone knew if it was normal for tinnitus to persist after an infection and if so how long does it take to die down. Thanks a lot. like i said, doc’s don’t know why people get it. over half the population suffers with it. i would give it at least a month or so, but there is still nothing to worry about. what will probably happen is, just one day…you probably won’t even notice it…but all of a sudden it will be gone. mine was off and on for years and now…it never goes away, but i do have sinusitis, tmj, and sometimes a small wax build up.

i asked the doc if it was due to the wax and he said no. don’t worry about it. it will resolve itself. I am 27 and having tinnitus since last 4 months. Went to ear specialist, went through many check ups, including hearing tests, ECG, MRI etc. All results are normal. But its always there, a constant noise in ears.

Though it doesn’t disturb me physically from doing any kind of activity but mentally i feel stressed because of it. I dont have any other apparent medical problem. I am just hoping it will go away. But it seems difficult.
